So... this is the end of my first work! it the single house with roof and without roof to show the interior and furniture it has.

An aesthetic solution for Petare

Petare is a city in Miranda, Venezuela, and is part of the urban area of Caracas. It is located in the Sucre Municipality, one of the five divisions of Caracas. The city was founded in 1621 under the name of San Jose de Guanarito. It grew to become a part of the greater Caracas area as the latter expanded in area and population.

The city is traditionally considered to be a suburb of Caracas, but has developed its own commercial core. Two universities are located in Petare: Universidad Santa Maria and Universidad Metropolitana. Poverty remains a major limitation to the city's development. The population of Petare is 369,000.

The city experiments a disorganized urban growth base on slums, which makes it aesthetically ugly and a very dangerous zone in Caracas with a high rate of murders!

Now, theres an aesthetic solution to this!!

i found on a magazine some info about 2 artist from Netherlands: Jeroen Koolhaas and Dre Urhahn. 

Haas&Hahn is the working title of artistic duo Jeroen Koolhaas and Dre Urhahn. They started working together in 2005, when they filmed a documentary about hip hop in the favelas of Rio and São Paolo for MTV. Inspired by this visit, they embarked on a journey to bring outrageous works of art to unexpected places, starting with painting enormous murals in the slums of Brazil together with the local youth.

Jeroen Koolhaas (Rotterdam, 1977) studied graphic design at the Design Academy in Eindhoven and has been working as a freelance audio-visual designer and illustrator for the New Yorker magazine since graduation.

Dre Urhahn (Amsterdam, 1973) has worked as a journalist, copywriter, and art-director and has set up successful companies specializing in different fields, from event management to television production.

Santa Marta

This is what the central square of the entrance of the community of Santa Marta, in the heart of Rio de Janeiro, looked like before:

Using a flexible concept of colourful rays which can easily be expanded, we made a design for the houses around the square and part of the street, including the local Sambaschool.

A group of local inhabitants where instructed by trainers from TintasCoral as part of the project "Tudo de Cor para Santa Marta."

They where taught everything from different types of paint to safety measures about working on scaffolding

As every wall, every house needs another solution, the painters learn to work with all kinds of material.

During the hard month of work they received an education as well as a paycheck.

The inside of the sambaschool was painted in their traditional colors

The final result was a huge artwork spanning over 34 houses.

About 7000 square meters of hillside slum, converted into an new monument for the community.

This project: O Morro, could turn the community into one of the greatest community driven artworks of our time.

How about a sulution like this to our awful Petare?
